Mommy's first day alone!

Well, today was my first full day alone with Jordan.  It went great and I am so blessed that he decided to be an angel last night as well.  We were both well rested and ready for whatever the day would bring!  We spent the day napping, playing on the floor, and feeding.  John came home after work and was so happy to see us both in one piece!  He got to spend quality time rocking Jordan to sleep.  Let's hope for many more easy days at home with Jordan!

Ceci heads home....on our own now

Ceci left today, but not without lots of hugs and kisses for Jordan.  This starts the beginning of my days home alone with the little guy...hopefully it goes well!  I'm healing well and feeling better every day after my C-section so it's much easier to get around the house now.

On Friday, Jordan had his 2 week check-up with his pediatrician.  He weighs in at 8 lbs 11 oz...almost back up to his birth weight.  I already knew he would be back up there since he wants to eat all the time!

On Saturday, Ceci and Mommy took Jordan to visit his Daddy at a cross country meet.  It was a beautiful sunny day and some of the cross country girls got to meet Jordan.  Hopefully we can use them as babysitters in the future.

So sweet!

So alert!

Ceci comes to visit

Jill's mom, Ceci, came to visit and help out this week.  She arrived on Saturday and couldn't wait to get her hands on Jordan!  The week started out with Jordan sleeping a lot and eating well....but as the week went on, Jordan began crying a lot and having a lot of gas pains.  Mommy and Daddy tried every trick in the book, from Mylicon drops to Gripe water.  We also employed the 5 S's, a series of techniques that actually seem to help Jordan calm down.  All we can say is thank goodness for the swaddle and for our swing!

Ceci enjoyed holding and rocking Jordan everyday.  Most nights he slept well, only waking up to eat...but one night he really put us to the test by crying almost all night no matter what we tried!  That was a really tough night and thank goodness Ceci was here or we wouldn't have been able to catch up on our sleep the next day.  We think it's safe to say that Jordan has colic and we are learning to roll with it.  Hopefully it won't last too long!

We were able to dress Jordan for his first Clemson game, with a matching shirt for Daddy.  Clemson won, so that will be something he can brag about when he (hopefully!) goes to school there!  We also had a photo session in order to find the perfect picture for Jordan's birth announcement...which we did and geez, is Jordan cute!  He cooperated so well during all the pictures that Mommy took.

Our first week at home with baby

Well, today was Jordan's first visit to his pediatrician's office.  He had of course already met his main doctor in the hospital.  We couldn't believe how great he did....not a peep on the drive over and then he was all smiles for the doctor and nurse.  I guess it didn't hurt that the doctor that saw him today was a really pretty young lady...I guess he's getting started on his flirting skills now!  Oh boy!  His Daddy was so proud of him!  There was nothing exciting at his visit; the doctor said he is doing great and that we will be back to see them in a few weeks.

Waiting to see my pediatrician

Such an angel at the doctor's

This week has been wonderful.  For those of you that don't know, John and I decided to go at it alone this week.  John took the week off from work and has been so helpful and wonderful to both Mommy and Jordan.  (Mommy is recovering from her C-section.)  Jordan has been sleeping a lot, which is what those little guys do right now.  We've had great teamwork...from diaper changes to getting Mommy set up for feeding to responding to Jordan's cries.  Daddy even cooked a few dinners!

We took Jordan on his first stroller ride this week around our neighborhood lake.  Of course, being Florida, it is usually super hot but somehow, it has been the most perfect weather!  We also have had lots of visitors this week...Jordan is a popular little boy!  It's so good to know that we have so many people who care about and want to help out with our guy.

Home from the hospital

Announcing the arrival of Jordan Matthew Combs....born on September 10, 2010 at 6:05pm.  Delivered at West Boca Medical Center by Dr. Melissa Friedman (funnily enough, her birthday too!) by scheduled C-section.  Not-so-little Jordan came in at 8 lbs. 14 oz and 21.5 inches; we are already filling out football team applications!  He is healthy and Mommy and baby did great.

We had lots of visitors in the hospital...Papa (Jill's dad), Grandpa Stan and Nana (John's dad and stepmom), Uncle Josh, Jill's friends Denise and Chris, and our mutual friend Michelle and her son Andrew.  Jordan was held by everyone and it was so sweet to see how much his grandparents (thus far) love him.  Jordan is very lucky to have so many grandparents: 7 total and 1 great-grandma!

So sweet!

But today was a big day too...we welcomed our son home!  We were able to bring Jordan home from the hospital around 1pm today, after much fussing and feeding on his part; he must not have wanted to leave the place where he was born.  He was welcomed home by our cat Queenie and spent most of the day sleeping (on Mommy's chest!).

Loading up and heading out!
