Ling-lang and sloppy kisses

Jordan has been learning and absorbing so much in the past month.  You can ask him "Where is....?" and he will look right at that particular object.  He knows where the fan, the light, the tv, the stairs, outside, cars, ball, Queenie, and many of his toys are.  It's so amazing to see him think about and then look at the correct object!  He still gets mixed up when we ask where Mommy and Daddy are, but hopefully he'll figure us out eventually!

He's also been experimenting with different sounds.  Right now he loves to "cluck" and says ling-lang.  He will talk it up whenever we are somewhere quiet, like church or the library!  So funny!  We also have taught him to "give me a kiss", which he does so sweetly, although open-mouthed on his part (we're still working on fixing that!).  Enjoy these videos of our crazy, cute little man!

Grandma Marcia and Grandpa Tom come to visit....and much more!

This has been a very exciting and busy week for us.  Grandma Marcia and Grandpa Tom came down from Indiana for a week vacation...it had been since Christmas that they last saw Jordan and they were so happy to spend lots of time with him.  Jordan was, of course, in his element as he had more new people to show off for!  Their visit consisted of lots of outdoor time: swimming at the pool, soaking up the sun at the beach, fishing for (and catching!) dolphin and snook, riding on the boat, and just enjoying the warmth of Florida (it's been cold in Indiana this year!).

I caught my own dolphin, Daddy!

So many things to show Grandma!

Sunday was Father's Day and the guys went out fishing early.  Mommy and Grandma Marcia packed up and headed to the beach with Jordan.  It was an unbelievably beautiful day and Jordan spent lots of time in the sand and the ocean!  He really enjoys the beach, which makes Mommy so happy.  His little arms and legs are even getting some nice tan color to them.

When the guys got back, with two nice-sized dolphin, we were able to celebrate Daddy's first Father's Day!  Mommy cooked the fish and served it along with some homemade peach ice cream for dinner.  Everyone, including Jordan, crashed early for bed that night.  Daddy had gotten some "Daddy" books for his gift, but he wasn't able to read them to Jordan until the next night!

Grandpa and Grandma spent a few nights in Deerfield Beach, and we went down to meet them for an early dinner at the Whale's Rib (yummy!) and then a stroller ride along the beach.  It was such a beautiful night...we were sad to head home to tuck Jordan in for bed!

While the grandparents were here visiting, Jordan started his ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) swim lessons.  He meets Monday-Friday at 10:30am for 10 minute classes.  His instructor, Kristy, is a friend of Mommy's and she has been awesome with him.  The lessons are supposed to teach Jordan to flip over and float in case he ever falls into a body of water, and since we live in South Florida, there are bodies of water everywhere!  Of course, there have been some tears (not yet from Mom and Dad!), but Jordan rebounds so well afterwards and is actually been doing really well in class.  His only crutch is the teething pain, which can cause his body to be extra tense...but we will hope for the best!  The class lasts for 4-6 weeks, depending on his progress.  We are hoping for an advanced student!

Get those legs down, Jordan!

Here's a funny picture...Jordan is all about rolling over and all around now and this shows him in his crib after one of his naps.  Our baby monitor is, obviously, a video monitor, so we have lots of fun watching him acting all silly in his crib.

First tooth!

Yay...we have our first tooth picture!  As you may have read, Jordan has been teething forever!  And now he finally has something to show for all that hard work.  His little tooth starting popping out while on the road to Hilton Head; now we are just waiting for all the others to follow soon.

Happy 9 Month Birthday!

Jordan turned 9 months while Uncle Jeff was visiting.  We had his 9 month visit to the pediatrician yesterday, who said everything is going great.  He is 29 inches tall and weighs 18 lbs 9 oz.  Believe it or not, he's in the 75th percentile for his height and only in the 20th percentile for his weight!  Looks like he'll be tall and thin, just like his Daddy!

Uncle Jeff comes to play and Hilton Head trip

This weekend has been very exciting...Uncle Jeff came down to visit Jordan!  He got in Thursday night, after Jordan was already asleep.  The next morning, he got to greet Jordan as the happy little guy woke up in his crib.  That started off a fun weekend of someone new to "show-off" for!  Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Jeff, and Jordan loaded up and headed to the beach for a few hours on Friday morning.  It was so much fun for all of us...Uncle Jeff, "the engineer", built a baby pool and baby-sized castle of mud for Jordan to play in.  Jordan ate it up (literally!) and loved when the waves would come into his pool.  It was too rough out to play in the ocean, but we did laugh at silly Jordan when he'd lift his feet when the waves would come in towards him.  We couldn't tell if he was being prissy or if he remembered "jumping the waves" with Mommy last time!

Loving my pool...the sand sure is yummy!
The next day, Daddy and Uncle Jeff went fishing and came back with a couple of dolphin (mahi mahi) for dinner.  Jordan and Mommy met them at the dock and went on a short cruise.  Jordan still wasn't too happy with the lifejacket, but it was a fun, although quick, ride.  We spent the rest of the afternoon with all the boys napping, then some playtime with Jordan, and finally a yummy dinner of fresh fish.  It was a great visit and we hope to see Uncle Jeff more, soon!

Still not sure about this lifejacket....

....but loving hanging with the guys!
After we dropped Jeff off at the airport Sunday morning, we took off for Hilton Head for a few days!  Daddy had a job interview and wanted the whole fam to come with him, so we spent the day driving up to South Carolina.  On the way, Mommy saw a tooth peeking out of Jordan's bottom gum (finally!).  We have been trying for a few days to get a picture of it, but Jordan is not cooperating.  (Who can blame him, really?)

Once in Hilton Head, we were one busy family.  Jordan has never been dragged around the way we were dragging him around before!  In the morning, we explored Bluffton.  After Jordan's first nap, we drove over to Hilton Head and met one of Mommy's friends, Courtney, who was there vacationing with her husband, Jonathan, and her two kids, Alex and Ashley.  Alex had just turned three the day before and was so attentive and sweet to Jordan.  They were entertaining each other face to face in their strollers while the adults got to catch up.  We spent a few hours with them before heading back for Jordan's afternoon nap.

At 4pm, Daddy had his job interview, so Mommy and Jordan took a stroller ride around the area.  Then we drove out to Harbour Town as a family and had dinner there.  Jordan could hardly stand it, there was so much to see in the restaurant.  We must've gotten there at the magical "family hour", because every single table had at least one small child or baby at it....we were worried that Jordan might get whiplash looking all around!  He has been so great going out to dinner with us, he plays in the highchair with one of his rattles and just enjoys watching all the people go by.

After dinner, we walked around and looked at the boats.  There was a guy playing live music outside at a cafe, and that really got Jordan dancing.  He's so funny whenever music comes on, he starts bouncing up and down and shaking his hands in the air.  We were having so much fun watching him boogie...can't wait to see if he will be able to moonwalk someday like his Daddy!

Dancing to the music!

School's out for summer!

Yay!  It's officially summertime in the Combs household, as John wrapped up his last week of school yesterday.  We celebrated as a family by visiting Gumbo Limbo for the first time with Jordan, where he saw all kinds of sea turtles swimming in their rehabilitation tanks and he got to "climb" up the 40 foot observation tower to see the ocean and the intercostal waterway.  It was such a pretty view and it is really amazing how beautiful south Florida is. We finished up our afternoon with an early dinner at Mellow Mushroom, but sorry, no pizza for Jordan yet!  Mommy and Daddy sure enjoyed it, though!

Papa's in the house!

This week, Papa (Jill's dad) came for a quick visit.  He hadn't seen Jordan since Christmas and was missing him.  Luckily, Jill had a few days off work so they were able to spend some time together with Jordan, while John was finishing up his last week of school.  Papa took everybody out to dinner one night.  Jordan had a blast learning to "color", with some help from Daddy.  The next day, Mommy and Jordan showed Papa the Hillsboro lighthouse and the Hillsboro inlet (pictures to come later!).  Papa bought Jordan some cute t-shirts and then, back at home, Papa even napped when Jordan napped...right outside under our big shady tree!  It was nice visit and Jordan can't wait to visit Papa and Mimi and go swimming in their pool!
